My Hair Is Straight and I Cut It!

By Kavuli Nyali - Wednesday, May 02, 2018

Shinin', shinin', shinin', shinin', yeah (shinin', yeah)
All of this winnin', I've been losin' my mind, yeah (losin' my mind)

I lost them raggedy ass ends, yáll! LOL!!!

Last week I decided to straighten my hair and give it a no-nonsense haircut. My curly hair tells me when it's time for a trim or a cut. You know when those ends don't quite curl right? Like, they are doing something, but it's not in formation and generally highly disrespectful? Yeah, that was my hair...

Here are my natural curls in some weird lopsided fro
I knew it was time for a cut.

Products Used:

  • Tresemme Botanique Shampoo
  • Loreal Elvive Curl Nourishing Conditioner
  • Curls Unleashed Leave-In Conditioner
  • Tresemme Heat Defence Styling Spray
  • Pure Royal Silicone Serum

My hair was so light, soft and fluffy after the blowout
It was time to flat iron and cut/trim after admiring my hair

Tools Used:

  • Clicks Blow Dryer
  • Clicks Flat Iron

My hair is just slightly past shoulder length after the cut. It's lighter and doesn't tangle much at all. I got a little scissor happy at one point because those ends are ugly, and if you have fine strands like myself, split ends can just make your hair look practically see through. I am very happy!

How I Maintain Straight Hair:

  1.  Nightly I apply a small amount of Dark and Lovely Amla Legend 1001 Oils Night Cream directly to my ends only.
  2. I seal the ends with my natural hair strengthening oil
  3. I will either sent my hair in flexi rods or wrap it to keep it straight.
  4. I cover my hair with a Lavish Atelier Satin Lined Do.Rag every single night without fail!
I kept my hair straight for a week before going back to my curls. Stay tuned to find out how my curls look with the new cut. I'm officially on a journey to grow my hair to my bra strap and beyond.
